Global Governance Initiative 2006 Report

The World Economic Forum’s Global Governance Initiative released the final version of its report on the state of progress towards key international development, security, and environmental goals on 17 January 2006 . For the first time in three years, the Initiative’s Report finds that the world has modestly improved its efforts in the areas of peace and security, poverty, hunger, health, and education. The high-profile focus on poverty in 2005 - through the G-8, Make Poverty History Campaign, and Live 8 concerts - has had a genuine impact. But the world is still a long way off target, and the world actually continued to slip backwards on the environment and human rights in 2005.
