FIENS - The Neurosurgeon Volunteer Team

The Foundation for International Education in Neurological Surgery (FIENS) was founded by a group of leading neurosurgeons to address the critical lack of trained neurosurgeons in the developing world. Since 1969, these volunteer specialists have provided hands-on training and education to neurosurgery wards around the world. They spend months on-site, teaching their techniques to local neurosurgeons, provide critical assistance in the operating room and setting up neurosurgery residency programs. Their work is another sucessful example of 'extending critical' skills to make volunteering meaningful to oneself and effective for others. [FIENS]
