The Foundation for International Education in Neurological Surgery (FIENS) was founded by a group of leading neurosurgeons to address the critical lack of trained neurosurgeons in the developing world. Since 1969, these volunteer specialists have provided hands-on training and education to neurosurgery wards around the world. They spend months on-site, teaching their techniques to local neurosurgeons, provide critical assistance in the operating room and setting up neurosurgery residency programs.
